4th Minasa Festival

True to their slogan  "mas pinasaya"...this is so far the grandest "Minasa Festival " of our town.

Vips in the government led by Sen Nancy Binay with Gov Willy Alvarado and Cong Apol Pancho graced the opening ceremony last Monday.

This festival showcased the trade and agricultural products of our town.

there were so many products to choose from...       from the duck eggs to mushroom production..
to garments and bags...

...vegetables and fruits.

At Sm City of Baliwag an exhibit about  the history, culture and arts of our town was shown.
On the spot painting session of renowned "Tuesday group" was held last thursday marked by the presence of brilliant artist Mr. Angel Cacnio.

Kudos to the teachers and students of  Bustos who participated in the street and dance competition. The ingenuity in their performance was highly commendable.

thanks to the owner of this pic Mr. Santos
Special thanks to Mr. Val Rodriguez of Philippine Star who covered the event. The following day the minasa dance  festival was featured on the front page. How's that for being world class?
My mom and i also participated by placing a stall selling ornamental plants.
We wanted to share our love for plants and realized that there were a lot of plant enthusiasts in our area.

This event is an opportunity for the people to come out of their house and enjoy the show and performances of their 'kababayan".

The whole week passed by so quickly . Minasa theme song still linger in my mind as well as the happy memories it brought to the hearts of every Bustosenyo.

This is an event that made a niche in the name of our town..Bustos, Bulacan.

Proud to be Bustosenyo!

Minasa...Masaya...Zumba!

one of my favorite activities during the minasa festival is the zumba contest.

participants were from the differrent zumba clubs of our town.

i was surprised at their number...ten groups! and they came in their best attire and ready to win !

zumba is the latest craze that hit our country...from the young to the young once.

it is a combination of aerobics and latin dance that originated from Columbia...from mambo, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, hip hop, belly dancing, tango and even martial arts.

at first i was curious about the buzz it created to our hospital staff.

i must admit i have " two left feet" but after watching them i decided to give it a try. i realized that it's fun and effective workout using slow and fast rhythms, basically watch and follow and not complicated.

i love the music and its like reliving the 80's when i was young.

 since then i got hooked.
it is something i look forward to every mon-wed and fri!

just like running with all the sweating and aches ...it gives an unusual high and feel good hormones after every workout.

congratulations to all the participants and winning group-"the barkads" with their coach Violy.

for me you're all a winner because the reward to a good health is priceless!

be careful not to try it because once started you would not stop.
