Minasa 2013

January  is one special month in our town because "Minasa Festival" is held.

It's a week long celebration by the Bustosenyos
featuring  their famous product "minasa" as well as the talents and beauties
of our town.

Last Monday we witnessed the opening ceremony led by the
very active Mayor Arnel and Ms. Nancy Binay of Makati.

There were so many booths showcasing the products of our town
...from clothing apparel, embroideries, bag, foods and a lot more.

Arts and culture are very much alive in our town.
There were painting sessions and contest headed by the Lakan ng Sining Bulacan
President Mr. Dans Pangan and his group.

I salute these artist as they are helping our students hone and develop  their talents in this field.

On Tuesday I attended the exotic food contest.
It can't believe that "bayakan "or fruit bat can be eaten .

There was even an " arrozcaldong sawa"or snake.
I  want to try the foods prepared by  groups in each barangay
but knowing they're "strange " made me think twice .
I just took some pictures  : )
But mind you...a lot of people enjoyed the fare.

Mayora Arlene enjoying the "turtle soup"
There were many activities to choose from.
Everyone was given a chance to participate.
From the barangay tanod drills ...to the youth participating in "Bustos got talent"
and "Battle of the bands"

...to senior citizens doing  the "gangnam dance"
I enjoyed the "Badinggetball"...

.. a basketball between the third sex and "macho" youth of our town. A play with no foul calls : )

This morning I was amazed by the participants of the street dancing.

The students wore colorful outfits with very skillful rendition of minasa festival dance.
There was even a livestream at FM radio 98.3 playing the minasa festival theme song.
Whenever I listen to that song I feel proud that I am a Bustosenyo.

I could say that Bustos had reached new heights and made a mark in our province!

Tonight I look forward to the Hari at Reyna ng Bustos Coronation.

Bustos is really in the heart of every Bustosenyo.
Minasa is one successful event that gets better each year.
And I look forward in this celebration year after year.

my kuya "mayor"
Congratulations!

Thanks to the FB photographers of Pamahalaan Bayan ng Bustos page where I got the photos.

Goodbye Sanse... Miss Rosario Magpoc

Id like  to dedicate this blog in honor of  our dear auntie....
Miss Rosario Magpoc

holding my eldest son Rico during his baptism

they were four in the family but only my father-in law got married
she is the youngest among her three sisters.  we call them "Ate", "Ditse" and "Sanse"...

she was a hardworking and compassionate nurse at Chicago Hospital for thirty
years coming home only to visit them during her break.

...at retirement together with "ditse" they opted to come back to their nativeland.

though in the twilight years of her life  she chose to help her favorite " inaanak"...my husband ricky.

she founded the magpoc maternity  hospital in 2001.
she even helped  in the administrative work of the hospital.

sanse, ditse, ate & papa

though she can afford  luxury...she chose to live a simple and quiet life... always ready to help...
a life dedicated to service .

Goodbye sanse...
Rest in peace with Almighty God the father.
