My Modest Painting Collections 2

I have noticed that one of my most read blogs  is about my painting collections.
so i decided to show some more art pieces which i've acquired in the past years.
i know that pictures wont do justice to the actual paintings but i decided to share them.

i havent gotten over  my love for arts so even if i have to forgo some of my  "whims"
i tried to procure pieces which i would keep and pass to my future generations...

i have met some "Lakan Sining ng Bulacan"members and true enough my passion was  ignited once i see them work esp.  the  "on the spot" session. such brilliant artists we have in Bulacan.

First on my list are works of veteran artist Mr. Raul Isidro...an acclaimed abstractionist painter...he had earned numerous distinction here and abroad.

Another piece which beautify my clinic is from Mr. Fil dela Cruz...actually my third from him ...   His style is  so distinct that  he had mastered his craft.  I couldnt let go of a Fil dela Cruz work once it is handed to me....esp this one with a pregnant woman.

Al Perez is always a favorite....and my brother mayor's too.  He is also a Bulakenyo who always extends his help in nurturing the art in our town.

Cezar Cruz...ive got 5 paintings from him and they keep our villa's dining area delectable and inviting.

Will Reyes whose work i also regard as pleasing and fresh...

Roger Fulgado...i got 3 of his works mostly stilllife...i love the blend of colors which made the paintings lively...though i liked his earlier paintings which are more detailed.

2006 work

One of my latest favorite artist is Rex Tatlonghari who hails from Malolos City. He truly puts his heart in his painting which I could truly say as "work of love".  Every stroke is well calculated, detailed and comes alive in every piece of canvas he made.

Rico Tica...a Tanay artist who is excellent in his artworks esp watercolor...very precise and neat.

Another artist ...William Alcantara...Koi...a favorite subject among painters and his rendition is one of the best in my collection...impressive.

Mhar Baez...this is my third painting from him. just love the rendition of flowers...very refreshing and relaxing..

A.  Bonifacio...a Tanay artist ...im fond of mother and child theme and this one is my personal choice....
i really love the details...

Enrique Mandilag is a promising artist from Baliwag, Bulacan. Truly a piece admired by my guest at the villa...

Ernie Patricio....my first painting from him and its remarkable rendition of a rural life is worth looking...

Brando Bati...a Tanay artist who held numerous exhibit in Manila..is said to be a protege of the late Manuel Duldulao...this breastfeeding mom piece is striking.

Cris Velasco...my third piece....he's such skilled with particular style...

this is my first Aris Bagtas painting.  One thing  i noticed in his painting is his unmistakable style.

so when he became a friend on facebook i commisioned him to do an art work of a woman with flowers and i requested him to add cycad leaves since i am a cycad lover.
this is the final outcome....

this is the "tres marias" i love the vibrant color he plays in his work. my third piece from him....

this is from Mr. Espanola...very enticing esp how he played with rich colors...

i also have some art works whose artist  i cant recognized  but are worth showing...

the signature says "Gorospe" but it is not in good state when it was handed to me.  i liked it per se...whether its from the famous artist or not...

this is from an old house....thus an antique painting too...

this one was made in the 70's  but i had it re framed...

this one from a Tanay artist....an Ifugao man...

Art works from a Bulacan artist...the emerging painters of our province....

J.D. Castro who hails from Baliwag, Bulacan. This is another irrestible work from a Mabini Artist in the 70's.

Nemirandas work is undoubtedly remarkable.  He is the owner of Nemirandas Art House in Angono Rizal.
...extremely brilliant artist.

This brass sculpture by unknown artist which i placed as one of the centerpiece  of  villa rosalinda events venue in our town .veritably a work of art!

Ed Castrillo. ....how i love the mother and child. the country's forerunner in all metal sculpture. such a talented man that his work is staunchly an investment.

I am enjoying my collection and they adorned every walls of our place.  Sharing this  is my way of honoring the man behind the art pieces.

Just cant get enough of these art works from the talented "kababayans" for which I am very proud of.

Pan de Bustos..... PAN-QUEUE-SAL

theres a new craze in our town
its located within the municipal compound
you can see people lining up the store
anytime of the day.

its no other than Pan de Bustos.   they only sell one kind of bread...pandesal

who would think that a plain simple pandesal could generate such popularity....
the store captured the taste of our town.

the once popular pandesal store here  was no match to the newly opened store.
it cost only 2 pesos per piece enough  to fill a hungry stomach.

i tried and became an instant fan
an early breakfast is not complete without my favorite pandesal.

congrats to Kapitan Iskul the man who brought this store to us.

what could be his secret?
i guess just one flavorful clean fair priced pandesal
everyone can enjoy.

go try it for yourself !

Ama..Kapatid..Mayor...

for the past years in the local elections
our family had been
the frontrunner in our towns electorate.
our father was a three term mayor

then our eldest brother succeded him.

but we also had a taste of loses in our bid
and  some of my siblings including myself swore then that we will never dip into politics again.
ironically,  because of kuya's strong perspicacity, (for which i salute him) during election time...
we always ended up supporting him.

as i always remember what our father used to tell us...
politics is something that is very easy to get into but harder to get out.
it could be genetic if i may justify.

i think our family is inclined to public service.
being a doctor my life has been about service to the people
and there is inner joy and fulfillment
in rendering help to our fellowmen.

.....more so if one becomes a town mayor...
.... being able to serve as such  entails a lot of hard work and sacrifice.
and again for that i take my hat off to my brother.
he believes, like what "spiderman" said.."with great power comes great responsibility".

i was quite mushy and emotional when i saw him at the tomb of our father at the first day of the campaign period.

maybe he was asking for papas guidance and blessing.
deeply  a devout christian  since he was a seminarian during high school and college,
he puts religion first in his daily task.

i  think our father would be proudest if he were still alive today
being able to maintain our name in lofty dignity
my brother is living the legacy he once planted.

and now the die has been cast and the ballots showed off the truth
and he won unanimously...
id like to congratulate you my dear brother.

2013 Election Proclamation

being  given the chance  to serve the people in our town  is such a special privelege,
a gift and a calling....
with Vice Pres Jejomar Binay
may you fulfill the works that other politicians just promised.
be very cautious and yet sensitive to the needs of your constituents,
be strong and yet  kindhearted esp. to those lowly ones.
make a difference but always share the same stance with your people.

make a change but always remain humble
and most of all, stand firmly in every decision you make for the greater glory of God.

congratulations kuya mayor arnel mendoza!

Summer at Galilee Wonderland!

If there's one place to visit this summer...
then I'll highly recommend Galilee Wonderland.

Its summertime once again...
what a cool way to spend the day
than a dip in the pool and laze around.

...and its not only cool waves of water
but majestic view of the surrounding area.

love and faith in God is very much around ....
how about a voyage in Noah's ark?

or see Moses divide the water....

these are just two wave pools of the many swimming pools of the resort.

...you do not only pamper your body
but it will enrich your soul as you wade into the
sparkling clear water around.

i am fascinated by the holistic concept of this resort
because it bathes both the body and soul.
hows that for total relaxation..

you can spend the whole day or
check in at their mansion hotel
to truly savor and enjoy your stay.

they have world class facilities, handicap friendly...

and its just less than an hour away from Manila.

Bustos is a booming town of Bulacan
and am glad the owners of this hotel
believed in the potential of the area...
kudos to Tito Narcing and Tita Cynthia Perez!

Congratulations for a job well done.
We're truly proud of Bustosenyos like you!

Come and see for yourself why I was fascinated with this place!

My First Marathon!

Like everyone who has run a marathon I have a story to tell.

I started running 2 years ago. like a typical runner i started with numerous 5 k run then 10 k then half mary. then i wanted more.

actually this is my second time to register in a marathon.
i first registered at Paris Marathon 2012. i thought of something far and paris !

while on training i suffered plantar fasciitis. i felt i was not prepared  so i deferred my plan in running that event.

my confirmation letter with bib number..

i realized that no one can do the training for me. i lacked the commitment of time  for such an event. it is not done out of whim. one cannot buy a marathon, not with a swipe of credit card or cash  but only with proper preparation.

then came the bull runner marathon. luckily i was accepted as participant.
somehow i managed in doing the training given by the team. i was even able to join the drills twice.

anything worth ones time and effort cannot be achieve in just a snap of  finger.
there were times that id like to quit esp when hospital toxic works get into my way.

but as soon as i wake up every morning tying my shoelace became a routine.

i felt like a student again when i trained for the marathon. any missed day training is like cramming for an exam.
i had so many doubts and fears prior to the race. ive read a dozen of running books and magazines to
to keep me confident .

..but before i sleep theres still a nagging question if i can survive and finish the race. even in my dreams they do appear!

then race day came.
i was at the starting line. everyone was so excited and nervous.

the inevitable happened during the first kilometer. i suddenly experienced throbbing  pain on my shinbone  esp on the left leg . i told myself it would go away after one or two kms just like before. however the pain persisted. so many things ran inside my head. doubts recurred.  maybe i was not  ready to run this distance after all...there is really no easy, risk- free way to run a marathon..anything can happen on the race day.

i felt tightness on my legs and feet. no way i can go on running nor walking in this situation.
i panicked. i was crying inside. i was walking at 9:30min/km.

when i had an opportunity, i changed my shoes and wore a calf compression.  most runners were on their way back downhill while i was just walking uphill. i heard someone said we're on the tail end of runners.     i just walked and walked.... until i felt no pain. i sighed with relief!

it was at 8km that i really started running. i maintained my 8mins/km goal.
running in the dark and unfamiliar place proved helpful to me. it made the race exciting.
to pass away time i even conversed with some runners and we were laughing at what we were doing at those early hours in the morning.

i said hi to new friends whom i met during the training.
i even befriended a  paralympian named isidro who was the cover of frontrunner magazine last month.
he was pacing a woman.  lucky lady!

i saw actress maricel laxa running with husband as pacer...how sweet could that be!
i was even talking to myself...convincing myself that i can make it.

finally at km 36 i nailed it. i said i can finish this marathon.

and after few more "freakin" 6 kms i made it....6 hours and 1min fr my garmin!

yes...its really true that first marathon  is like a first love!
though i grumbled ... but i'll never forget it.

and just like ones love ...with its flaws and imperfections...you'll never get over it.

thanks to my ever supportive husband!

i'm sure after the recovery period my affair with running a marathon continues.
